this idea was thoroughly opposed and criticized by the japanese language scholars of the time , and it is taken as a kind of pseudoscience or folk etymology , i .e . merely a coincidence of languages , and it is no longer taken seriously . しかしながら、当時から日本語学の研究者の手によって徹底的な反論と批判がなされており、学界からは疑似科学・民間語源の一種（単なる言葉の偶然の類似）として受け止められ、近年ではまともに相手にもされていない。
